My son and I had a difficult time putting this together until we realized the order in which the sparse instructions tell you put it together, is better done a different way (in our opinion)

Because the scratching posts are connected to the other parts by a threaded screw, and the way the thread turns changes from level to level, AND if you do it in the order THEY say, you'll be caught in very awkward situations, their way is difficult, almost impossible.

Instead, you should do them in a different order and a different way. Here's what we changed that made it work:

== In step 1, they tell you to screw the male/female post to the bottom cave unit. DON'T. Instead first screw the post first into the second level platform. put it aside.
== In step 2, they tell you to screw the female/female post to the bottom cave unit. DO. this is correct.
== In step 3, NOW you can screw the male/female post, already attached from step one to the second level platform, to the bottom cave unit.
(if you don't do it the way we suggest, you end up twirling the large heavy platform, trying to screw it into the post, which won't work, because you can't keep it level enough to start threading)
== In step 4, push the double threaded screw through the second platform and screw it into the female/female post.
== In step 5, you can now screw the remaining male/female post onto the double threaded screw sticking up out of the second platform.
== In step 6, THERE IS NO STEP 6 IN THEIR INSTRUCTIONS! but this step is when you have to twirl the third platform with the mouse onto the last post. Even though this is still awkward, the platform is smaller, so easier to twirl.

So, hopefully, this will help people out there save a lot of frustration.

The product itself is sturdy, albeit the "fur" is simply glued to particle board, so I have no idea how long that will stay glued.
Otherwise, we like it fine.

This came in VERY fast. Took me about half hour to install-the kittens were already trying to play on it before it was fully asembled! Great for only 30 dollars! shipping was $15, thought that was a little pricey.
