I just adopted a kitten a couple months ago and quickly grew irritated of her constant scratching. She is an energetic kitten, but it hurt to play with her. I constantly has cuts and scratches all over my body.

I bought these as an alternative to declawing and they have been absolutely great! She did not fight as I put them on, (giving her a treat after every couple i put on helped too I'm sure) and she hasn't tried to lick/bite them off. I will now leave her to wander the entire apartment when I'm gone because I know she cannot cause the damage she did before. Can't say much about durability or how long they remain on as they have only been on for a day.

TIP FOR NEW KITTEN OWNERS: If you get the kitten accustom to playing with their paws, putting these on will be an easy task. When you cuddle with her or when she naps in your lap, softly touch her paws. She will eventually associate touching her paws with relaxation and won't scratch as much when you try to handle them later.

Highly recommended! I will switch to colored ones when she gets older!

In case you are wondering, Soft Paws and Soft Claws are made by the same company. One is marketed to veterinarians and the other is marketed to consumers. They are exactly the same product.

I am very satisfied with my Soft Claws purchase. This is my first experience with the clear (natural) color nail caps. I've tried a variety of the solid colors. Clear nail caps are easier to fill but also more difficult to see when they fall off.

APPLICATION

My kitten's paws have been handled a lot and she doesn't mind me placing the nail caps on her. I place the applicator tip all the way into the nail cap, fill until I see it come up the top (don't let it crest), release the glue tube and the glue gets sucked back into the tube. The nail cap now has just the right amount of glue to hold the nail in place. I then go pick up the kitten and place the nail cap on her (no need to clip young kitten nails). It takes less than a second to pop them on. I don't make her sit there for five minutes afterwards like the instructions say. I just let her go. No problem.

The nails stay on until they shed. They don't all shed at once, so we lose a few nail caps per week.

PRECAUTIONS

At first, my kitten would get her nail caps stuck in my crocheted blanket and the mesh in her climbing structure. The manufacturer warns of lace and loop rugs. I have not had any problems since I've removed the crocheted blanket and the climbing structure.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I have an agreeable cat. It took less than a few minutes for her to get used to the nail caps and they don't bother her at all. If you don't, then I don't have much advice other than try to massage your cat's paws daily so she's used to being handled. I know some cats will never have the temperament for that, but it's worth a try.

I bought extra applicator tips from the manufacturer. If there is one gripe I have, it's that the applicator tips get clogged. Since I don't want to have to wait until several nail caps have fallen off to conserve applicator tips (while my furniture is being wrecked) or have to keep using pins to unclog them, I opted to buy the applicator tips. It's an additional expense. I wish they'd just include them in the package. Six applicator tips is simply not enough.

The only problem I have with this is the glue. It is ridiculous. the applicator tips get clogged which is a given considering. But you end up getting gloued to yourself and your cat. Mines not agreeable at all so I have to fight with her the whole time. Ive taken to wrapping her in a blanket save for the paw I'm working on and this helps. The glue also gets on her fur and when the caps come off they end up taking a chunk of her fur too and its painful for her. I feel bad with how much it annoys and hurt her, but I figure it hurts a lot less than having her claws ripped out of her so i'll keep this up until it becomes too much...
I'm going to try clear nail polish and see how that works

A total waste of money, the only thing they play with once in awhile are the mice. The rest is now in the garbage, one cat got inside once, and that was it, it just took up space.

After putting up the kitty walk my clawed 15 lb cats (2) loved it. I would never allow them to be in the kitty walk unattended..but it is so nice to see them sniffing and enjoying the fresh air. They tried to push their face through the netting but they did not succeed and netting is in fine shape.

Worked great for me and I am buying 2 more so they can run even longer distance and have more room for fun.

This is the best thing we bought for our cat to let him be outside while we have the peace of mind that he is safe.

Our cat loves the outdoors since that's where he came from. We adopted him from the streets about 5 years ago. He is always begging to go outside, but we don't have the time to be out there and watch him. We used to attach a long leash to his harness and stake it down so he had freedom to roam around. The bad thing about that is that we had to constantly watch him because he would escape from this setup easily. Safety is our number one concern.

The Kittywalk Outdoor Cat Run solves all of our problems. It spans about 10 feet and uses secure netting all around to enclose kitty. Because there is netting on the bottom, he is able to feel and eat the grass. To secure the Cat Run in place, you just stake each section into the grass. There are 2 entry points that use secure clips to lock the gates in place. It is easy for humans, not cats, to open and close the locks. The Cat Run is easy to setup and take down also, although I leave it outside since it can stand the rain. This way we could let kitty out everyday without the hassle of setting it up and taking it down. I think I might get tired of it if I had to set it up and take it down everyday.

I bought 2 of these from overstock for about half the price (49.99). They can be connected together so now kitty has 20 feet to roam in. We're probably going to buy more Kittywalk setups so that we can provide more of a variety for our cat. I totally recommend this product.

Three years ago I purchased two Kittywalk outdoor cat runs. To make a long story short, within less than a minute one cat had pushed his face right through it and within one hour the Kittywalk had several holes in it (my cats are declawed). The netting is extremely flimsy and no match for any determined cat. I would never purchase or advise anyone to purchase a Kittywalk product!

My cat loves this toy. He loves to shake it around in his mouth. He loves to roll on his back and bat at it. He carries it around with him like it is a prize possession.

I have four cats and am always looking for good toys for them. Because one of my cats likes to eat things that are non edible, any sort of toy that has strings, ribbons, plastic crinkles, or small pieces is a no go. Unfortunately that doesn't leave many options.

This toy has been a great addition though! I filled it with the catnip provided and all four cats love it. My cat with the strange eating habits particularly enjoys playing with it and with throw it around and pounce on it for quite awhile. He is 19 pounds and usually pretty lazy so I'm extra grateful for the exercise it provides.

The only drawback is that the poor duck is looking really ratty after only less than a week of play. I'm not sure if my cats are just intense players but the catnip has kind of stained the stomach area of the duck and it is looking pretty worn out, though the construction is still holding strong. Of course this draw back doesn't matter at all to my cats but just be aware that it might not be the most attractive toy after a few sessions of rough play.

I will definitively try other Kong cat toys!

Adorable little thing... my cats usually chew off the heads of all their toys this one is either too durable or my cats just don't want to destroy it.. they still carry it around in their mouth.

Easy to fill, easy to use, and works as advertised. I docked a star because it's not very heavy-duty -- the friend who suggested this product to me once dropped hers from a standing position and it cracked. Also, don't get this if you're not a fan of Easter egg hunts. You'll need to play a game of find-the-egg at every feeding time.

We used to practice free-feeding, but when we tried to put our two cats on a diet, the super-fat one ate nearly all of the food (and gained weight), while the slightly-overweight cat dropped weight much too quickly. With these eggs, we feed twice a day and can keep much better tabs on which cat is eating what. Fat kitty lost a noticeable amount of weight within the first two weeks. I'm actually really looking forward to her next vet appointment! The cats also get much more engaged and interested in feeding time.

Bonus: my husband used to clean up cat puke almost every single day. He's hardly had to do it once since we transitioned the cats to these feeding eggs. Definitely worth the investment!

Our cat is a little overweight, and sometimes she eats so fast that she gets sick, so I got the Egg-Cersizer to see if it would slow her down a little. She's around eight years old, so I didn't know if it would be hard for her to get used to something new (it comes with instructions on how to ease your cat into using it), but she got into it right away. It's adjustable, so you can make it harder or easier for kitty to get the treats out. She has fun with it, and now she can only eat one bite at a time. This is exactly what we needed.

Took a while to teach Louie how to use this - even though he is a HIGHLY food motivated cat. I let him go hungry for a while and then sat with him and would hit it to it would spill out the food. Now that he has gotten the hang of it, he loves it! I have other food balls, but I really like this one because it is infinitely adjustable - I feed my cat EVO and the kibbles are very small. With this ball I can set the width just larger than one kibble size so he really has to go at it to get the food out. Previously Louie would gorge all his food at once, often so fast he would vomit - now the same measured portion lasts hours. I have also filled it up with food and left for two days at a time - it makes sure he uses effort to eat instead of just for convenience. Highly recommended.

Once our kitty figured this one out, it would keep him happily entertained for 20-30 minutes. Dispensing is affected by the type of cat kibble put inside - small round pellets work best. Larger or "X" shaped pellets will tend to clog in the opening. [...]

I thought this would be a fun toy for my two cats. They are ten months old, and they love to bat their toys around and chase them. I was thinking they would be intrigued by the way the toy dispenses treats, since they both love their treats and will ordinarily go to great lengths to get them. Unfortunately, these are made of hard plastic, so there is no way the cats can pick them up and carry them, which they do with most of their toys. The toy doesn't appeal to them, no matter how much I try to get them involved. They will eat the treats that fall out when I roll the ball, but they won't chase the ball or bat it around on their own. These cats both love their toys, but I've tried everything with this one, including placing catnip inside, and they are not interested. The toy itself is not easy to open and requires a screwdriver, and it is difficult to snap shut, as well.

She likes strings, but I thought I'd give 'em a try.
I put dry cat food in one, but first I gave her one filled with catnip. She liked the catnip one for a minute, but she's not interested in the food one. We've tried, believe me!
I think that a kitten would get it, but my 9 year old fat cat just looks at like, "You roll it, I'll pick up what it drops...."

As for the design, a screw mechanism on the inside of the ball would help: to OPEN, squeeze at just the right spot along the seam of the the 2 halves. To close is a bit harder, especially when full of kibble/catnip: squeeze together HARD....I imagine you have to get it in just the right spot to close as you do to open. There are little teeth along the inside rim of one half that after a few minutes of trying to get it back together, look like they'll be snapping off pretty soon.
But my cat isn't interested anyway, so I may give them to the Goodwill or something. My cat is too lazy and not inspired by this, but I'm sure there are rambunctious cats out there that would like these.
