Behavioral biologist Pryor dispels the commonly held idea that cats can train their owners but cannot be trained themselves. The author of Don’t Shoot the Dog! is a leading authority on clicker training, a method based on operant conditioning that uses positive reinforcement and a “click” signal to shape useful or amusing behavior. Pryor illustrates how clicker training can be used to teach a cat to come when called, to sit up and beg, and to walk on a leash.
